Today's Episode Highlights

I know that you want to enjoy family life – but can you enjoy it even when it’s hard?

That’s what I’ve been wrestling with lately, with 3 toddlers running around and a newborn in my arms. The days are long. They are often hard. The kids are disobedient. I am tired.

But I still want to enjoy this season of our family life!

And I’ve found that these 5 tips help.

5 tips for growing through the good and the bad seasons

  1. Lean into God – He is there in the good and the bad. Just read the psalms! Lamentations! Ecclesiastes! 2. Know yourself and your people – How do you each tend to handle change? What do you need when you’re sad? Some of us need a hug, some of us need some time alone.
  3. Expect hard emotions, and expect that everyone in your family will struggle at some point to handle them. Try to recognize changes in emotions early on and have a plan for handling them instead of ignoring them. The 40-Day Devotional on Anger and Emotional Control may help.
  4. Aim for day-to-day rhythms and routines that focus on your big-picture life priorities, rather than a to-do list.
  5. Get 1:1 time and quality time as often as you can. It really helps to mediate the harder seasons and the times of change because you know you can check in and reconnect.
  6.
