Your daily choices matter... to God, to your family, and to your happiness
We can easily feel overwhelmed by all of the choices that we have to make every day.
But let’s be honest with ourselves – some of those choices have a much bigger impact than others!
It is often our small daily choices that shape who we are and what our relationships look like. Are we making choices from a place of wisdom and love? Or are we looking for the easy to way and giving into our feelings?
Especially during the hard seasons of life, when we feel discouraged or defeated, we can stop putting much effort into these daily choices.
And that, my friend, is a mistake.
So let’s narrow it down to two. Just two basic daily decisions that will be very powerful in your family life and your everyday emotions.
Daily choice #1... Choose your attitude.
You cannot control most of the things that happen to you during a day. Some of them will probably be enjoyable. Things you would have picked if you could! Other things will happen that you tried to avoid.
Every day has some good and some bad. And of course, some days lean heavily in one direction or the other.
But every day, you get to decide your attitude.
How will you approach today – the good and the bad parts of it? As Christians, we are called to approach trials and struggles with joy. With gratitude. We are called to choose kindness and love, even when it is not at all easy.
If you aren’t intentional about choosing to be joyful, thankful, kind, and to pursue a godly attitude, the natural grumblings of life and distractions of the world will decide your attitude for you.
When you’re struggling with this choice, make sure to pray. Take it to God. He can handle your struggles, and He is your ultimate source of peace, rest, and purpose.

Daily choice #2: Choose to let God set your day's priorities.
Hopefully, you are starting your day by spending time with God. This is such an important part of spiritual growth and building intimacy with the Lord! (Grab my FREE 45-day Bible and Prayer guide if you’re struggling with this!)
And as you read the Bible and pray, one of the best decisions you can make is to pray over the day ahead of you.
There are 2 really helpful questions that we can ask God during this prayer time.
- Lord, what do you want FROM me today?
- And Lord, what do you want FOR me today?
This is how we seek wisdom day by day. After all, Proverbs 3:6 tells us, “in all your ways submit to him, and He will make your paths straight.”
I use my Hope Planner each morning, to read the Bible, pray over important areas, and plan out my day’s priorities. Just like you, there is always a lot on my plate and plenty of things to fill my time.
But when we choose to let God decide how we should fill our time, and we let Him set the priorities for the day, we will get the right things done! And we can feel at peace about the day – the good and the bad – knowing that the Lord is in charge of it all.
