common questions

Parenting is hard work! Not only that, it is hard work that we know is incredibly important. Burnout can happen easily when we feel overwhelmed, inefficient, or chronically stressed out.

As you parent your kids day in and day out, through the ups and downs, the Bible is a rock. It is your source of peace and joy. Take time to study and reflect on some of these passages.

  • Deuteronomy 6:4-9
  • Psalm 78:1-7
  • Lamentations 3:22-26
  • Matthew 6:25-34
  • Philippians 4:4-7

There is no magic bullet to dealing with mom burnout or finding joy. It starts (and ultimately ends) in knowing God and living for him.

  • Evaluate your thinking. Focus on gratitude and things that bring you joy.
  • Work on emotional control, to improve your family relationships.
  • Practice communication skills to help your family understand each other better.
  • Invest in quality time with your favorite people.
  • Focus your attention and energy on things that really matter.

Young kids are easily distracted. Often, you can feel like any effort to teach them about God is wasted. They may not seem interested or able to understand. But don’t dive up! Here are a few ideas for young kids.

  • Read and then act out Bible stories.
  • Sing Scripture that is put to song.
  • Let them see you reading your Bible.
  • Repeat a few short Bible verses together regularly.
  • Talk about God like a real friend.

There is no wrong way to be praying for your children! If you don’t pray for them… who will? You can pray for:

  • The day-to-day struggles that they are dealing with.
  • Their relationships with family, friends, and their future spouse.
  • Yourself and your compassion, patience, kindness, and grace with them.
  • Salvation and their intimacy with the Lord.
  • Their hearts and bodies to be healthy and safe.
